Bring It On (2000)
Turn of the millennium teen issues are portrayed with considerably more sensitivity and depth than what it may look like at first glance in this self-aware but never self-deprecating comedy about high school cheerleaders. The comedy is based around conceived stereotypes and familiar power struggles, but the drama behind it reveals real characters trying to find their identity growing up. It's all quite fun as well. Kirsten Dunst's lead performance is sweet and energetic. And she gives her co-stars room to breathe and come alive. The direction is by Peyton Reed, who went on to further successes with films such as The Break-Up and Yes Man.
