Eddie
Murphy's racy, unpolished material and youthful energy coupled with
a fiery and appreciative audience makes this stand-up film a
fascinating and sometimes explosive watch even after thirty years.
Granted, the material is uneven, and the audience seems unseasoned
at times, but the highlights here, such as Murphy's parody on James
Brown or the bit about his mother as a "shoe slinger", more than
make up for the less successful bits.
