Review

Classically structured and told thriller from John Badham (Saturday Night Fever, Stakeout), starring a sympathetic Johnny Depp and a routinely solid Christopher Walken. This is fast-paced, genre-based moviemaking, a film that aims medium high and hits close to the mark. With gritty aesthetics and familiar Hollywood mechanisms, Badham's goal here is 90 minutes of constant suspense in the form of a real-time race against the clock. It's cramped and rather silly, but the stream of events and sense of movement make it fairly effective nonetheless.
