Diane Keaton
FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
Diane Keaton emerged as a distinctly womanly, willful screen presence in the early 1970s, blending awkward charm, neurotic energy, and striking intelligence. This proved to be the perfect match for the quirky intellectualism of her then-boyfriend Woody Allen in a number of his films they made together during this period, most notably Annie Hall, for which she won her (so far) only Oscar. Keaton continued to deliver strong and versatile performances across a range of films and genres in the following years, often portraying independent, idiosyncratic women and bringing emotional authenticity and unpredictability to her characters. This was perhaps never truer than in Looking for Mr. Goodbar, her magnum opus. She was directed to an Oscar nomination by a partner for the second time in her career by Warren Beatty for Reds in 1981. In later years, she has mostly appeared in lighter fare, and not always as inspired as in her early career.
