Review

In the niche sub-genre of over-the-top action-comedy, Fight or Flight takes its place confidently and plays out its silly story with quite a bit of playfulness and creativity. Josh Hartnett stars as an invincible John Wick-ian professional killer who – due to plot-driven circumstances – finds himself on a plane with an unidentified hacker named the Ghost (Charithra Chandran) and dozens of contract killers looking to cash in on her bounty. The ensuing altitudinal action extravaganza is every bit as outrageous as you could have hoped (or feared). Hartnett's performance is in many ways a follow-up to his work in M. Night Shyamalan's Trap, and it turns out he revels in these types of roles. His natural charisma and obvious enjoyment rub off and give the character the unassailability it requires. With slightly more professionalism, and perhaps a better actress in the Ghost role, Fight or Flight might even have soared to heights transcending its current status as a fun curiosity.
