George Kennedy
ACTOR FILMOGRAPHY (REVIEWED ENTRIES ONLY)
Rugged character actor who often played simple-minded, tough-beyond-reason characters who either befriended or opposed the leading man in numerous films during the 1960s and 1970s. He worked his way up through several western roles on TV, before his big breakthrough in 1967, when he landed roles as Paul Newman's jovial protector in Cool Hand Luke and as Major Armbruster in The Dirty Dozen. In the 1970s, he starred in a number of disaster movies, starting with Airport in 1970, before joining Leslie Nielsen in parodying himself in the Naked Gun series. Kennedy kept himself busy in the film industry well into his 80s, albeit not as prolifically as in his heyday.
