Review
Timothée Chalamet is a real find as the introspective teenager who
must come to terms with his homosexuality when one of his father's
archaeology students moves into the house for the summer in this
film which I will not call by its name. Chalamet's singular talent
and complete authenticity outshines the film's other assets, which
don't always come off equally integral – including Armie Hammer as
the love interest – but under Luca Guadagnino's direction the film
combines neatly the romantic aspects with an insightful bildung
aspect, which culminates with a profound talk between father
(Michael Stuhlbarg) and son at the ending. The script is written by
old-timer James Ivory, who won his first Oscar for it – aged 89.
