Review
There’s a fun absurdity and edge to
this animated children’s comedy about a brilliant young inventor who
wants to help his community by creating a machine that can make food
from water and air. The filmmaking duo of Phil Lord and Christopher
Miller has written and directed, based on Judi Barrett’s 1978
children’s book of the same name, and apart from a couple of
unnecessary, jerky supporting characters added for comic relief, the
film works well within its genre-expectations, and also offers a
fair share of nice observations about growing-up and parent-child
relationships.
