Review
Fine casting and accomplished
cinematography
elevate this fairly original tale about four young suburban children
and their bout with psychic powers. Filmmaker Eskil Vogt's narrative
style is that of a drama writer, even when he toys with horror
tropes, and this gives the picture a certain nerve which keeps you
invested. Through the interpersonal and eventually psychic
connections between the kids, De uskyldige explores the
concepts of tabula rasa, innate morality, and the interface between
the two. It's constantly fascinating, albeit never completely
engrossing. Vogt gets honest, mostly credible performances out of his four
child actors.
