Review
This is a sweet little rom-com
which is so unfashionable and ordinary-looking that you might just go
along with its audacious premise. Nicolas Cage plays a virtuous New York
cop who in lieu of money for tipping waitress Bridget Fonda decides to
split any winnings from his lottery ticket with her. The only problem is
that Cage's greedy, selfish wife (Rosie Perez) stands in their way.
Director Andrew Bergman had dabbled in a similar territory together
with Cage before, with the moderately successful Honeymoon in Vegas,
and even if his direction lacks any kind of profoundness, there's a hint
of authenticity to the story about Cage and Fonda's characters here and
how the good old-fashioned Hollywood movie fate brings them together.
