Review
On
the surface a peculiar and charming tale about a lost middle-aged man,
suffering from amnesia after an accident, who has to try and find his
way back into society. Kaurismäki shoots his film with a colourful
nostalgic lens, paying tribute to the technicolor movies of the 50s and
to the simple things in life, centered around our need for fitting in.
The film is thoroughly subdued both in style and tone, and Kaurismäki's
stylized visuals and narrative makes the film charming, but also
somewhat reticent.
