Review
My
Friend Dahmer is a psychologically well-informed and ostensibly
quite respectful delve into the complex and in many ways fascinating
Jeffrey Dahmer, focused on his teenage years leading up to his first
known murder. Young Ross Lynch plays the title character with a
well-balanced combination of mimicry and depth, and his performance
along with the basis for the story itself, which is the memoirs of
Dahmer's high-school friend John "Derf" Backderf, combine for
one of the more enlightened and meaningful movies in the
portrait-of-a-serial-killer sub-genre.
