Review

Both new acquaintances and old fans will be disappointed by this big-screen adaptation of the famed TV series Sex and the City. The main problem seems to be that the creators have very little new to say about these four New York women, and their antics seem to have become increasingly shallow and irrelevant for regular people. Add to that far too generous editing, which clocks this largely directionless film in at 148 minutes, and you've got plenty of time to become annoyed by embroidered reactions and overdramatic outbursts. Unless you're constructed the same way yourself, chances are you'll find Sex and the City an insignificant and banal film cursed with an abundance of poorly executed melodramatic scenes and segments.
