Review

Death Wish meets Jason Bourne – and some steroids – for 90 minutes of vigilante justice, 21st century version. The film is frenzied, chauvinistic and inherently silly, but it's got a feverish drive and some functional writing by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen that keep it going and suck you into its twisted world. Turns out overanxious and distrusting is the way forward. At least for those of us whose purpose is to incite fear and exact vengeance. Liam Neeson is well cast. Maggie Grace as the daughter is not. Followed by two sequels – and a TV series.
