Review
George
Lucas' renowned low-key sci-fi has got an inspired Robert Duvall, some
intriguing observations and a climatic finale, but lacks nerve and
potency for too long. The famous visuals are not uncreative, but except
for the final scenes, they give the film a confined, unspatial
atmosphere which serves more to limit the characters vitality than give a
truly claustrophobic feel. Despite Duvall's efforts, Lucas is never
really able to front the human side of his characters.
