Review
Brendan Gleeson gets
the chance to shine when meeting his doppelganger in John Boorman's
playful mystery-comedy The Tiger's Tail. The role, as the film,
is a nice mix of simplicity and depth, and Boorman finds room for both
silly comedy (which often is more silly than comedic, however) and
historically resonant drama in this clever little film. It is also nice
to see a film as arch-Irish as this, and the performers seem to cherish
this identity. Brendan Gleeson doesn't give his most whole-hearted
performance, but he is obviously enjoying himself. And Sinéad Cusack's
performance is full of emotion.
