Remarkably
talented Aussie who probably was expecting to continue his
relatively inconspicuous career as a domestic stage actor when he
was suddenly flung into the limelight with his bravura performance
in Scott Hicks' magnificent
Shine
(1996).
Rush had done the occassional film before this, but the Oscar he won
for his interpretation of David
Helfgott changed everything, and Rush made the most of his
newfound opportunities by giving further Academy Award nominated
performances in Shakespeare In Love and Quills. And
who can blame him for also capitalizing financially on his success
by appearing in less interesting parts in films such as House on Haunted Hill
and
Pirates
of the Caribbean. |
