Review

Steven Seagal is pure raw material in this, the first of many co-production between him and Andrew Davis. Fresh from his diverse background in martial arts, Japanese culture and various American regions and ways of life, Seagal displays a sensitivity to his machismo which gives an otherwise fairly standard wild-cop-and-wilder-bad-guys script an edge and a heart. And in addition to Seagal's accomplished performance, the charismatic Pam Grier and Henry Silva are vivacious if overly stereotypical by his side. Seagal and Davis followed up with Under Siege three years later.
