Review
This obscure 1988 film has unpolished
performances from its three young and talented leads and a
semi-interesting story by playwright John Patrick Shanley, who tries
to weave civil rights engagement and social issues in with a fairly
straight-forward crime story in what was arguably a rather personal
script for him. It could have worked – were it helmed by a more
skilled director. Because Tony Bill is never able to find the right
tone for the film. His scenes flutter about and lack the framework
necessary to ground the picture's occassional frivolousness and
banalities.
