Review
Four Rooms
suffers from its fact that it's an anthology film made by four different
directors, which has made it highly variable both in quality and style.
The glue to piece these four segments together seems to be missing,
leaving that entire task to an energetic Tim Roth, who plays the porter
in the hotel where these four rooms are located. The film starts off
meagerly with two unimpressive segments.
Allison Anders' "The Missing Ingredient"
lacks punch and a satisfactory build-up;
"The Wrong Man" is a misfire signed
Alexandre Rockwell. It all picks up with Tarantino's "The Man from
Hollywood" and particularly Rodriguez' "The Misbehavers" (a wonderfully
written thing), but not quite enough to make this into solid movie
escapism.
