Review
Jon Avnet's film about the
Southern States, women's liberation, racism and ageing is a wonderful,
complex and upbeat piece of moviemaking; an engrossing watch that
radiates quality without being overly ambitious. A strong female cast
lead the way and play well off of each other. It was Avnet's first film
as director, after he had produced Risky Business and
Less Than Zero
in the preceding decade.
