Heaven Can Wait (1978)
Charming but flawed fable by and starring Warren Beatty. The film garnered rave reviews and several Oscar nominations when it was released, meaning someone was beguiled by something which isn't apparent when watching this film today. Beatty is pleasant in the lead, but Julie Christie's character doesn't work, and neither do the film's attempts at stirring up emotion. The filmmaking trio of Beatty, Elaine May and Buck Henry are never quite able to make this thesis of theirs come off as relevant.
