Review

A spirited performance by Bridget Fonda keeps this somewhat awkward remake of Luc Besson's Nikita watchable and at times enjoyable. Unfortunately, John Badham's direction is clumsy, especially in the many overdone action-sequences, and what could have been a poignant story therefore turns into rather shallow pulp fiction. The many below-par performances by well-known actors giving it their semi-best in stereotypical parts don't help the case either. Also know as The Assassin.
