Review
There
are a few times during this half-baked crime-comedy-transvestite
when Burt Reynolds is improvising and letting loose, whereupon both
his co-star Dyan Cannon and the film itself is vitalized, almost to
the point of relevance. Except for these moments, however, Shamus
is a steady showing of 1970s mediocrity, complete with
overemphasized and unimpressive chases, sleazy conspirators and
conspiring sleazeballs. Luckily (and somewhat weirdly), many such
movies had Burt in them, and that usually made them at least
watchable.
