Review
Nicolas Cage plays a
fictionalized, down-on-his-luck version of himself in this comedy which
starts off fresh, funny and borderline absurd. Cage is brilliant when he
is self-referencing and toying with myths about himself, and the film
seems to be on a path to meta-movie greatness when the filmmakers
introduce a Taken
inspired crime subplot which completely ruins the imagination. The final
45 minutes is one big, insipid cliché-fest underlined by a terrible
score by Mark Isham.
