Review
Grant Heslov directs
this adaptation of Jon Ronson's book about the US Army's experimental,
new-age extrasensory group which allegedly was borne out of a
combination of the Vietnam fiasco and the hippie culture. The amusing
anecdotes and tone set in the film make it interesting at the outset,
but there is never enough flesh here to support a full-length feature of
any relevance. George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Jeff Bridges talk
their way through a film which with a lot of benevolence can be enjoyed
as a story about male bonding, but in the end, The Men Who Stare at
Goats will go down in history as a movie with little more than a
digressional value.
