John Hawkes
FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
Talented character actor with a versatility that ranges from the explosive (Martha Marcy May Marlene) to the fragile (Me and You and Everyone We Know), Hawkes broke through in a number of independent films during the 2000s, while already in his 40s. He started in the movies as early as 1985, however, and worked his way slowly up through minor roles and bit parts, before becoming the breakout actor from Miranda July's critics' favourite Me and You and Everyone We Know. Subsequently, Hawkes has been in high demand both in independent films and larger studio productions, often in supporting roles as menacing or troubled characters.
