Andrew McCarthy
FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
Handsome, twinkle-eyed youth-lead peaking in a number of high-profile films during the 1980s in which he portrayed sympathetic, often somewhat inexperienced good-guys and romantic interests. He excelled in his first lead as Jonathan in Class, opposite Rob Lowe, and continued to star in box-office hits such as St. Elmo's Fire (again with Lowe) and Pretty in Pink, effectively placing his name in the so-called 'Brat Pack' group in the process. Towards the end of the 1980s, he scored a hit with Weekend at Bernie's, before his somewhat limited range caught up with him once he could no longer lean on his well-established youth persona. Has turned to travel-writing in later years.
