Thanks in large to the Home Alone series, which probelled him to superstardom, Macaulay Culkin became one of the biggest child movie stars of all time, probably only surpassed by Shirley Temple. His talent was perhaps not in the elite, but he had brilliant comic timing, plus a naturalness and presence on screen which made him adept also in dramatic parts, something he proved with a fine performance in My Girl. Only in The Good Son did he seem out of his depth (and miscast). After reaching adulthood, Culkin has only occassionally found work in the film business. His brothers Rory and Kieran are also actors, the latter being arguably the most successful of the three in adult parts.
