ACTOR FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
FILMMAKER FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
Intense and prolific performer, usually in supporting roles, who made a name for himself during the 1990s with a handful of roles, often as weirdos or nevrotic candidates, in films of subsequently highly acclaimed makers of so-called independent films such as Quentin Tarantino or the Coens. Combining his characteristic, peculiar looks and quirky voice with a valid sensitivity, Buscemi contributed to developing the psychotic adversory or companion from the one-dimensional representation he was often given in the 1970s and 1980s, into the more fullfleshed persona of later years. Buscemi has also directed a handful of films which have been given festival screenings and reasonable commercial success
