Highly talented Puerto Rican character actor whose magnificent performance in his breakthrough film The Usual Suspects helped establish him as one of the hottest new prospects in the industry. Ruggedly handsome, with a beefy, Latino appearance and a slurred, mumbling voice, Del Toro has often found himself portraying tough guys and characters on the fringes of society. He won an Academy Award for his portrayal of a Mexican police officer in Steven Soderbergh's Traffic and followed it up with fine work in Alejandro Iñárritu's 21 Grams (2003) and Susanne Bier's Things We Lost in the Fire (2007).
