Ethan Hawke
ACTOR FILMOGRAPHY (REVIEWED ENTRIES ONLY)
After breaking through in Dead Poets Society, this boyishly handsome actor became a sought-after lead in young adult movies and independent films throughout the 1990s. With a natural screen presence and considerable talent, Hawke has been able to balance his status between romantic lead (most notably in Richard Linklater's Before trilogy, which he also co-wrote) and more eclectic and often darker roles throughout his entire career. Into the 2000s, Hawke has starred more often in high-profile films, such as Training Day (2001), Taking Lives (2004), and Lord of War (2005) and big-budget remakes like Assault on Precinct 13 (2005) and The Magnificent Seven (2016). Hawke has also directed a handful of feature films. He gave his perhaps finest performance to date in Paul Schrader's powerful drama First Reformed in 2017.
