Intense, talented character actor who has shrugged off any comparisons with his superstar cousin Tom Cruise and created an impressive career of his own through a varied and highly qualitative body of work. He especially came to prominence after a brilliant turn in Todd Field's In the Bedroom, and has since continued in a variety of roles, most recently in Mike Cahill's brilliant Another Earth.
