Keanu Reeves
FILMOGRAPHY (ONLY REVIEWED ENTRIES)
The question concerning this exotically handsome, model-looking star's talent has been raised repeatedly over the past decades, but Keanu Reeves has consistently continued his march towards stardom. Although one can easily argue that Reeves isn't the most expressive of actors, he has two very important qualities going for him (in addition to his striking looks, of course): an ability to blend into most types of roles, and a remarkable knack for picking the right ones. I first took notice of Keanu Reeves while watching the very enjoyable Point Break sometime in the early 1990s. By that point, Reeves had already made his debut as a hockey goalie (incidentally the position he played himself) in the Rob Lowe vehicle Youngblood, had landed a considerable role in Stephen Frears' acclaimed Dangerous Liaisons, and had started off the goofy Bill and Ted film series. It wasn't until the mid-1990s, however, that Reeves established himself firmly at the top of Hollywood's star list with a commanding performance in the smash hit Speed. Since then, Reeves has had the luxury of choosing roles more comfortably. Although not working tirelessly through the latter half of the '90s, he again confirmed his status at the top with a somewhat daring turn in the cult-aspiring-turned-commercial The Matrix. Reeves since reprised this role twice – a decision that benefited his bank account more than his standing as an actor. Nevertheless, he remained an action film favourite and landed another major star role in the John Wick franchise (2014-).
