Michael Douglas' Hollywood career has spanned several eras, associations, and public images. After making his mark as a producer of highly successful and critically acclaimed movies in 1970s – winning an Oscar for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in the process – he matured into a romantic lead during the 1980s before appearing in several erotic thrillers during the 1990s. Douglas has perhaps received the most acclaim as an actor in his later years, not least for his portrayal of Liberace in the biopic Behind the Candelabra.
