Brad Pitt burst onto the scene with an impressive role opposite Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis in Ridley Scott's Thelma and Louise (1991). Until then Pitt had been threading water in lesser roles for nearly a decade. His consequent rise to stardom was inevitable, showing good sense in choice of characters, and making the most of his all-American, pretty-boy persona. Often basing his acting more upon coolness than anything else, Pitt will be limited by lack of dramatic depth, but profits immensely on his huge popularity. His career is expected to be on the up for as long as he can command an audience based on his looks.
